Ich bin Meins
The basis for this design approach is a list of all the items that are in my household. I’ve looked at, picked up, flipped, and cataloged every thing. An inventory was created. My possessions as a list. As of January 16, 2008. The front of the poster shows this list. On the back, the objects are classified according to various statistical criteria. Does the list say anything about who I am? Do the objects say something about me? Thing + thing + thing = me? The aim of the project is to provoke a critical examination of consumer behavior and brand awareness. The title ‘Ich bin Meins’ is not an ultimate answer or statement. It is an invitation to reflection and questioning.
The work has been selected and was shown at the International Design Biennale in St. Etienne in the category ‘N – 1. Research and experiments in graphic design, numbers and sonore dans écoles d’art et design’ from November 15 to 30, 2008 (www.citedudesign.com).
